RFID management for animal husbandry
27 Apr 2026
RFID technology realizes full process intelligence in animal husbandry management, by wearing electronic ear tags for each animal and establishing a "digital ID card", achieving precise control of the entire life cycle from birth to slaughter.
1. Individual identification and data binding
Each livestock is equipped with an RFID electronic ear tag with a globally unique code (such as low-frequency 134.2kHz or ultra-high frequency 920-925MHz), with a built-in chip storing information such as breed, gender, age, immunization records, etc., to avoid manual registration errors and ensure identity traceability.
2. Intelligent inventory and access control
Install RFID readers in the channel of the breeding farm to automatically identify and count the number of cattle and sheep passing by, without the need for manual counting. The system can complete remote batch reading of hundreds of animals within seconds, significantly improving efficiency and reducing the risk of missed, duplicated, or lost items.
3. Precise feeding and weighing management
Deploy RFID readers around the food trough and sink, and the system will recognize the animal's identity and automatically adjust the amount of feed according to its growth stage and nutritional needs, achieving differentiated feeding.
Combined with an intelligent weighing platform, the animal station automatically reads weight data when it is placed on the scale and synchronizes it to the management system, forming a growth curve to assist in scientific decision-making.
4. Disease prevention and control and medication traceability
Quickly retrieve the epidemic prevention history of each animal through RFID, distinguish between immunized and non immunized individuals, and prevent cross infection. After vaccination or medication, information is written in real-time on the label to ensure accurate and traceable epidemic prevention records, meeting government regulatory requirements.
5. Full traceability and food safety
From feeding, transportation, slaughtering to sales, RFID is linked with blockchain and big data platforms to build a complete traceability chain from pasture to dining table. Consumers can scan the code to view information such as the source of meat and quarantine certificates, enhancing trust.
6. Behavior monitoring and health warning
High end RFID ear tags integrate temperature sensors and motion monitoring modules, which can detect behavior changes such as abnormal body temperature, estrus period, or reduced activity in real time, timely warn of disease risks, and improve the survival rate of aquaculture.
